Six-time Grammy award winning singer Toni Braxton, 43, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy last week for the second time. Braxton first filed for bankruptcy in 1998. The singer also had a nearly $400,000 tax lien filed against her by the IRS for not paying debts in 2007 and 2008.
The filing listed total liabilities between $10 and $50 million and assets of only $1 to $10 million. Some of Braxton’s creditors include Tiffany’s Co., Neiman Marcus, AT&T, American Express and several hotels/resorts and entertainment companies.
Braxton said her financial problems were escalated in 2008 when she had to cancel a series of shows due to the diagnosis of a form of angina. In addition, her stint on “Dancing with the Stars” that same year was cut short for surgery to remove a breast tumor.
